Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the STEM Impact Academy platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the platform.
2. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. School administrators are responsible for managing teacher and student accounts within their institution. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the platform only for educational purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws. You may not:
- Share account credentials with unauthorized users
- Upload inappropriate, harmful, or copyrighted content
- Attempt to access other users' data without authorization
- Use the platform for any commercial purpose outside of education
4. Content & Intellectual Property
All curriculum content, project guides, and educational materials on the platform are the intellectual property of STEM Impact Center Kenya. Schools and educators are granted a non-exclusive license to use these materials for educational purposes within their institution.
5. Digital Badges
Badges earned by students are verified credentials issued through the platform. They represent demonstrated competency in specific skill areas. STEM Impact Academy reserves the right to revoke badges in cases of academic dishonesty.
6. Service Availability
We strive to maintain platform availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications to the platform with reasonable notice when possible.
7. Limitation of Liability
STEM Impact Academy is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

9. User-Generated Content
Students retain ownership of their submissions and project work. By submitting content to the platform, users grant SIC Kenya a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and use submissions for platform operation, grading, and portfolio features.
SIC Kenya may showcase anonymized student work in marketing materials with school and/or parent consent.
10. Indemnification
Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless SIC Kenya, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from their misuse of the platform or violation of these Terms.
School administrators accept responsibility for ensuring appropriate use of the platform within their institution, including oversight of teacher and student accounts.
11. Copyright & DMCA
SIC Kenya respects intellectual property rights. If you believe that content on the platform infringes your copyright, please contact legal@stemimpactcenterkenya.org with the following information:
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed
- The location of the allegedly infringing content on the platform
- Your contact information (name, address, email, phone number)
- A good-faith statement that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
Upon receiving a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the content and notify the user who posted it. The affected user may submit a counter-notification if they believe the content was removed in error, and the content may be restored after 10 business days unless the complainant files a court action.
12. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties.
If a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nairobi, Kenya. For schools and educational institutions, disputes may also be resolved through mediation by a mutually agreed-upon mediator before proceeding to litigation.
13. Modifications to Terms
SIC Kenya may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any changes via email or platform notification before they take effect.
Continued use of the platform after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. Material changes that affect student accounts will require active consent from the school administrator or parent/guardian.
14. Termination
Either party may terminate the account relationship at any time. SIC Kenya may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms of Service, with notice provided where reasonably practicable.
- Upon termination, user data is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy retention schedule
- Earned badges and certificates remain independently verifiable after account termination
